CHANGING THE WAY WE AGE
As we navigate through life's journey, there is a need to redefine our perspective on aging. It is about embracing change and the opportunities it brings. By providing the necessary resources, we can ensure a fulfilling and enriching experience for each individual as they age gracefully. It is crucial to preserve their dignity, allowing them to maintain their independence and autonomy. However, aging should not be seen as a burden, but rather an exciting phase filled with joy and excitement. By promoting a sense of fun and adventure, we can create an environment that encourages personal growth and happiness. Together, let us change the way we age, fostering a society that values and cherishes our older adults.

Celebrate Older Americans Month
🌟 Celebrate Older Americans month 🌟
In April of 1963, President John F. Kennedy and members of the National Council of Senior Citizens met to discuss the seventeen million Americans that had reached their 65th birthday. A third of these older adults were living in poverty, and the programing and resources to meet the needs was concerningly slim. Following this meeting, the month of May was dedicated as “Senior Citizens Month,” now known as “Older Americans Month,” to acknowledge and address concerns, for older adults in our country. Older Americans Month celebrates and honors those that have defended our country and made contributions within their communities.
The Clarion Area Agency on Aging is proud to serve the older adults of Clarion County. We are inspired by the stories we hear. The tales of heroism and determination, of love and loss, of innovations and deep friendships, and of course, the shenanigans! We are educated by the teachings of our older adults: a recipe passed on through generations, a gardening method, and tried-and-true techniques to make life a little easier. Every person we have the honor of working with is valuable, important, and we are lucky to have them.
The services we provide focus on making sure our community members can live as safely and independently as possible. We contact our participants several times a year to ensure our services are meeting their needs. We provide home delivered meals, medical transportation and home-based services like bathing and dressing assistance. We encourage participation in programs at our agency senior centers focused on movement, balance, and socialization while providing nutritious meals. We support those that are in the role of caregiving for older adults by providing support groups and resources appropriate for each individual situation.
These services are possible due to the continued support of our local community. While we receive funding from the federal and state governments, it is insufficient to meet the needs of the growing older adult population in Clarion County. The financial support you provide goes directly toward ensuring Clarion County older adults are able thrive, not just live. Please consider celebrating our Older Adults with a donation, pledge, or sponsorship in ANY amount.
Here is an example of how your contribution will help:
$4000- Ensure safety and independence for a year through our Personal Care and Home Support program.
$1000 - Feed an Older Adult for a year through our Home Delivered Meal program.
$400 – Aid an Older Adult with approximately 1 month of In-Home care.
$130 - Provide Home Delivered Meals for a month.
$16- Enable Transportation to one medical appointment using transportation services, round trip.
On behalf of our older adults, providers, families, and staff at the Clarion Area Agency on Aging, we extend great thanks. We encourage you to continue the celebration and contribution of our Clarion community older adults!
With gratitude,
Candace Parson,
Executive Director
